Wealth with Purpose—a report on Private Indian Philanthropy

Artboard 49.png

We inspire transformative giving

Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP) was founded in 2021 with an objective to transform the strategic giving landscape in India. AIP works with ultra-high net worth individuals and families (in India and the diaspora) to create sustainable impact by inspiring and enabling them to give more, give sooner, and give better.

AIP is incubated at The Convergence Foundation (TCF), a grant-making incubator run by philanthropist Ashish Dhawan that builds and scales new foundations in key areas of India’s development sector. TCF identifies critical gaps in key economic and social areas, partners with outstanding institution builders, and works on building long-lasting organizations.

Why it is the best time to give?

1

Wealth Creation

We are now positioned at a seminal moment with substantial crystallization of wealth. The number of billionaires in India has increased in the previous decade, and we are expected to house a combined net worth of INR 360 lakh crore by 2025.

2

 Increasing Inequities

The share of the bottom 50% of the population in national wealth is merely 6%, and 84% of Indian households have witnessed an income decline during the Covid-19 pandemic.

3

Suboptimal Giving

While wealth is growing at 2.5x times global growth, giving lags global averages (0.5% vs. 2-3% in the US). There is, therefore, an imperative to make philanthropy as aspirational as wealth creation.

What makes us different?

01
We are a peer network set up by philanthropists for philanthropists.
02
AIP is not a fund aggregating platform, hence eliminating any conflict of interest.
03
The existing ecosystem is fragmented. We will build collaborative ecosystems to facilitate partnerships.
